ESMA renews binary options prohibition - CONSOB AND ITS ACTIVITIES
ESMA renews binary options prohibition for a further three-months period from 2 April 2019
On February 18th 2019 the European Securities and Markets Authority (Esma) agreed to renew for a further three-months period - from April 2nd 2019 - the ban on the marketing, distribution or sale of binary options to retail customers. This ban has been in force since July 2nd, 2018 and it has been already renewed twice: on October 2nd, 2018 and January 2nd, 2019, always for a for three-months periods. The decision taken by Esma is in order to guarantee an adequate protection to retail investors. (See "Consob Informa" No. 37/2018 and No. 42/2018).
