"Beware of scams!", finance on stage: Rome, November 20

On Tuesday November 20, 2018, at 17:00, the event "Beware of scams!", organised as part of the project "Finance on stage", will be streamed on the CONSOB website.

Finance on stage is an experimental financial education project, in line with the edutainment approach, combines the narration/theatrical performance of a significant financial matter with a subsequent informative debate that highlights the most significant teachings that can be drawn in order to protect savers and investors.

The performance 'Beware of scams!' tackles the topics of scams inspired by the Ponzi scheme. The actor and director Massimo Giordano plays Charles Ponzi, the Italian fraudster (in 1920 he collected15 million dollars from 40,000 investors) who became famous for having carried out a large-scale scheme still known today under his name and replicated in many modern versions that use email and the internet.

The performance will be followed by a debate on the most widespread financial fraud and scams and on ways and strategies to prevent them, with speeches by Nadia Linciano (Economic Research Office) and Silvia Ulissi (Abusive Phenomena Surveillance Office) of CONSOB, as well as Annamaria Lusardi (Director of the Financial Education Committee) and Giuseppe D'Agostino (Deputy Director General of CONSOB).
