Press release from 09 July 2026

The first phase of ESAP, the European Single Access Point for data on companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, financial markets and sustainability, starts on 10 July. The first information flows towards the European Single Access Point are being launched. ESAP will be fully operational from July 2027 and will make it easier to consult information

On 10 July 2026, the first phase of ESAP, the European Single Access Point, will begin. ESAP is the single European access point for public information concerning companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, financial services, capital markets and sustainability. The initiative, provided for under European legislation, aims to make the consultation of public data on companies and market participants simpler and more centralised. In this perspective, ESAP seeks to overcome the current fragmentation of information, which is currently disseminated through multiple national and sectoral channels, promoting greater findability, accessibility and comparability of data at European level. The new system is also intended to increase the visibility of companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, by facilitating investors’ access to relevant information. A single access point also makes it possible to reduce the costs of searching for information, facilitate its use and thus contribute to more informed investment decisions.

ESAP, which will be managed by ESMA, the European Securities and Markets Authority, will be fully operational and open to public consultation by 10 July 2027. It was established by the Regulation of the same name adopted in 2023 and is accompanied by the so-called “Omnibus” package, consisting of a Regulation and a Directive. The new regulatory framework does not introduce any additional publication obligations for the entities concerned, but provides for new procedural requirements relating to the methods for transmitting and making information available.

ESAP will be implemented progressively, in three phases. The first phase, starting on 10 July 2026, concerns the information flows provided for under the Transparency Directive, the Prospectus Regulation and the Short Selling Regulation.

The transmission of information to ESAP will not be carried out directly by the entities required to publish it, but will take place through dedicated “collection bodies”. In the initial phase, information will be collected by the collection bodies and by ESMA and will subsequently be made public on the ESAP platform once it is operational and accessible to the public.
