OECD: Published the updated edition of the Recommendation containing the High-Level Principles on Financial Consumer Protection approved by the G20 leaders (15 December 2022)

The OECD has published the updated edition of the Recommendation containing the High-Level Principles on Financial Consumer Protection approved by the G20 leaders.

The High-Level Principles represent a system of international reference standards for consumer protection in the financial sector.

They provide guidance for policy makers and institutions also with regard to the role of supervisory and control bodies, the fair treatment of consumers, the transparency and disclosure of information as well as the management of complaints.

To consider the recent evolutions of the financial system, in the 2021-22 period, the document was revised to integrate the principles on financial inclusion, digitalisation, sustainability, financial well-being and investor vulnerability after the COVID-19 crisis .
