The General Director implements the guidelines issued by the Board and the Chairman, ensuring management through coordination of the structures on the basis of the tasks and powers defined in the Regulation on Organisation and Operations, in the Regulation on Administration and Accounting and in the Regulation on Personnel.
The Director General is appointed by decision of the Commission on the proposal of the President, serves for a term of up to five years and is renewable.

The Deputy Director General, appointed by the Commission based on the Chairman's proposal, assists the Director General in the performance of his/her duties and acts in his/her lieu in the case of his/her absence or impediment.
The Commission may assign the Deputy Director General powers, duties and specific tasks. The Director General may issue specific instructions to delegate his/her duties to the Deputy Director General.
The Director General and the Deputy Director General make use of the General Management for the exercise of their functions, including the Protocol service.
The Director General also avails himself of the following offices, which are coordinated within the General Management:

Methodologies and Policies Office
The Office defines and updates, in conjunction with the competent divisions, Consob's methodologies and policies, from a risk-based supervision perspective; on an annual basis, it verifies the robustness of the risk-based supervision models, including on the basis of statistical evidence; it supports the Human Resources Division in the definition and updating of Consob's processes and organisational structures.

Risk Analysis and Management Office
The Office identifies, evaluates and manages Consob's risk, monitoring its significant variables, through the preparation of methodologies and a reporting system based on Key Risk Indicators; it defines the risk management framework and identifies, evaluates and updates the process risks to which Consob is exposed (risk assessment).

Management Control and Planning Office
The Office defines the models and contents of the management control system, coordinating its operation and results, including in terms of reporting for various institutional purposes, both internally and externally; it handles the coordination of the Operational Plans, verifying their consistency with the Strategic Plan and periodically monitoring their progress.
